Closed: 4-Bedroom Public Housing Waiting List

The Alachua County Housing Authority (ACHA) Public Housing waiting list for 4-Bedrooms apartments is currently closed. Applications were last accepted since at least July 2020, until July 30, 2020.

There were three ways to apply during the opening period:

  1. Print the application documents that were available online.
  2. Call the ACHA office to request an appointment with a Housing Specialist to submit an application.
  3. Visit the ACHA office to request an appointment with a Housing Specialist to submit an application.

Preferences have not yet been confirmed.

It was not known how applicants were placed on the waiting list.

Closed: Alachua County, Florida Mainstream Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Waiting List

The Alachua County Housing Authority (ACHA) Section 8 Mainstream Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently closed. Applications were last accepted from January 25, 2021, until January 27, 2021, or until 300 applications were received. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

Please note: According to the ACHA public notice, "applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • 1) Must be a Non-elderly person with disabilities (A person 18 years of age or older and less than 62 years of age, and who):
    • (i) Has a disability, as defined in 42 U.S.C. 423;
    • (ii) Is determined, pursuant to HUD regulations, to have a physical, mental,or emotional impairment that:
      • (A) Is expected to be of long-continued and indefinite duration;
      • (B) Substantially impedes his or her ability to live independently, and
      • (C) Is of such a nature that the ability to live independently could be improved by more suitable housing conditions; or
    • (iii) Has a developmental disability as defined in 42 U.S.C. 6001.
  • 2) Must be transitioning out of institutional or other segregated settings, at serious risk of institutionalization, homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless."

The specific method on how to obtain an application is not yet known.

Once the application was completed, it was dropped off at the ACHA office.

Open Until Further Notice: 5-Bedroom Public Housing Waiting List

The Alachua County Housing Authority (ACHA) Public Housing waiting list for 5-Bedroom apartments is currently open. Applications are being accepted since at least October, 2018 until further notice.

There are three ways to apply during the opening period:

  1. Print the application documents that are available online here. Select the link for each document in the "Downloadable Application Documents For Out of Alachua County Public Housing Applicants" section.
  2. Call the ACHA office at (352) 372-2549 to request an appointment with a Housing Specialist to submit an application.
  3. Visit the ACHA office, located at 703 North East 1st Street, Gainesville, Florida 32601, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, to request an appointment with a Housing Specialist to submit an application.
